Tip from the doc

"Nature never disappoints."

I once read this sentence in a parenting book and I have to say: it's simply true. With my children, too, it was sometimes a fuss until they were dressed, they whinged that they didn't want to go out and it took forever until we were outside. But when we were outside, in the snow, by the stream, in the meadow, somewhere in nature, it was always great, the children always had fun discovering something, something that interested them.

So here's my suggestion for you: No matter how early or late it is in the day. No matter whether it's cold or warm. Going out with children is always possible. And it's always good and incredibly important for children to get some exercise in nature, to explore and investigate things. And by the way: it has been proven that fresh air also strengthens children's immune systems.

To conclude with Hape Kerkeling: "The boy needs to get some fresh air." And so does the girl :-).

RSV vaccination

An important topic at the start of the infection season: the so-called RS virus vaccination. So-called because it is not a vaccination in the true sense of the word.

Immune training

Is it Christmas already? At least when we look at how many children are currently coming into the practice with mild respiratory infections, you could almost think so. While we had virtually no mild infections last autumn and winter, we can hardly save ourselves from children with coughs, colds and fevers. This is extremely atypical for summertime - but it's not bad. Quite the opposite.

School against children

Silke Müller, former headmistress and now one of the most incisive voices for digital ethics and educational justice as an author and speaker, has published a new book: "Schule gegen Kinder" (School versus Children) is a sharp appraisal of our school system and deals with the question of the extent to which our school system prepares children for life in a digitalised world.
